🗓️ Starcamp Camp Club
STARCAMP is excited to share Ireland’s most exciting Kids Book Club!
For 19 years, STARCAMP has helped children grow in confidence, creativity and joy, and now we’d like to bring that same sparkle to the world of books. We are thinking monthly stories, fun missions and creative challenges, and we would love to include your children – they could perhaps feature as our STARCAMP BOOK CLUB Critics! This is reading the STARCAMP way — bright, bold, confidence-building and bursting with FUN!
STARCAMP has always been about so much more than games, drama, singing and summer fun — it’s about building confidence, creativity and a love of learning in every child. Launching a STARCAMP Book Club seems like a natural next step in our mission.
Unfortunately in Ireland, the number of children reading for fun is on the decline, (and teachers are noticing this in the classroom). This is despite the fact that reading is an incredibly powerful and advantageous tool for children. It strengthens the mind, expands the imagination, supports emotional & social development is vital for brain development and enhanced communications skills. It also provides an escape, it relaxes and calms children in a society that has never needed it more. We want Irish Children to have the advantage of all that reading and books offer to them for life.
HERE’S is some of what we want to do:
1️⃣ Books spark the same magic we spark at camp
Stories light up imagination, courage, humour and curiosity — the very qualities STARCAMP has nurtured in children for 19 years. A book club lets us continue inspiring that spark all year long.
2️⃣ It grows confidence in a brand-new way
Reading, sharing opinions, drawing, creating and completing missions connected to a story help children feel capable, brave and proud — just like they do on camp.
3️⃣ It gives every child a place to shine
Some children shine on stage, some in sports, some in art — and some through stories. The Book Club celebrates all kinds of strengths and makes space for quieter creativity too.
4️⃣ It keeps the STARCAMP fun going outside of summer
Kids love the buzz of camp. Monthly recommended books, missions, crafts, kindness challenges and chances to be featured keep that excitement alive throughout the year.
5️⃣ It supports parents who value positivity and learning
The club gives parents a simple, colourful, ready-to-use way to encourage reading without pressure — just joy, imagination and connection.
6️⃣ It helps children build real-world skills
Through reading and responding to stories, children build:
- confidence in expressing themselves
- empathy and emotional intelligence
- creativity and problem-solving
- focus and imagination
All of these are core STARCAMP values.
